From the moment we are born, our bodies undergo countless transformations. As we approach adolescence, however, we begin to experience senescence – a series of abnormal bodily changes that mark the start of a decline in overall function. While most people will notice these differences, it is important to understand that they are a natural part of the aging process.

The musculoskeletal system is often the first area where diseases and illnesses take root. Because of this, it is important to take steps to reduce the risk of injury to the muscles and joints. Avoiding accidents, abuse, excessive alcohol, drugs, and tobacco can all help to reduce the likelihood of developing these conditions. Conversely, exercising, eating a healthy diet, socializing with positive people, and avoiding environmental toxins can all help to improve overall health.

Regular visits to your doctor are also essential in preventing disease. During these visits, your doctor will take into account your family history, including any hereditary diseases. By studying your diagnostics, cures, prevention, and treatment options, your doctor can help you to avoid disease and maintain optimal health.

It is important to note that our body begins to decline from the age of 35, including our sensory organs. Our eyes are particularly affected, making it difficult to focus on objects up close – a condition known as presbyopia. This is why so many people over the age of 40 rely on glasses, contact lenses, bifocals, and other vision aids. It is worth noting, however, that some younger individuals may also experience these changes, signaling that aging is starting earlier for some due to a combination of factors, including hereditary traits and environmental factors.
