BECOMING AN INFORMATION FILTER AND A KNOWLEDGE SPONGE

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 16 Second

As the title states, “Become an Information Filter and a Knowledge Sponge.”

On your daily journey to achieve your WHY, you will travel through many different avenues, and sometimes you will ask yourself, “Why do I need to meet this person or experience this situation?” The key is to truly understand that you must become an information filter and use your personal God-given filters — your eyes and your ears. I always say that you were born with 4 inputs (2 eyes, 2 ears) and 1 output (mouth).

When you decide to become a filter and filter through all the information taken in through your inputs, you will begin to find answers to the reasons for certain experiences in your life. What you learn from each situation that you experience will be the foundation for future decisions. My personal view is that “every failure is a stepping stone to success, which in turn will become a very long and lovely stone walkway into the castle of your dreams.” Very simply, this quote means out of every failure, you will filter information that will empower you to make wiser decisions based on the information you learned from your personal failures!

As you begin to realize you must become a filter – listen and observe more than you talk, you will be amazed at the insight you gain. When you combine becoming a knowledge sponge and being a filter, you will empower yourself to achieve your WHY! Becoming a knowledge sponge is very simple. You must immerse yourself in the knowledge of the #1 people in your field of endeavor. When I first became a distributor in a direct sales organization, I simply researched and found out what the #1 earners in direct sales/network marketing were doing. As a result, I broke all records and built enormous sales organizations. I was nothing special, but the methods I used were special because they were proven to work. Remember, the smartest people are those that realize they are not the brightest or the best.

Each day you embark upon your journey toward your Why, you need to absorb as much information as possible constantly. Success leaves clues, and usually, it is a long list of failures accompanied by one major success. I can tell you that if you have failed in the past and right now are questioning your actions, just become an information filter and knowledge sponge. Start to utilize your four inputs, and before you know it, you will hit the mark and succeed! I highly suggest listening to positive personal development tapes and reading some positive material EACH AND EVERY DAY to saturate your sponge with the proper knowledge!

Find your WHY and Fly!

Small Changes Make a Big Difference

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 46 Second

Our bodies were not meant to live in the fast-paced, stressful world we live in. This is why so many people are affected by health issues; our bodies cannot keep up. This is why it is important to make minor tweaks in our daily routines to incorporate healthy habits.

Dietary Changes:

Your body requires certain nutrients to rebuild itself. It requires certain enzymes, vitamins, and minerals to ensure that the rebuilding process is done correctly. There are a few small steps you can take immediately to improve the health and appearance of your skin and hair. Skin repairs itself at a pretty rapid pace, so you can expect to see improvements within a month of adding the following to your diet:

– Vitamin/Mineral Supplement: Begin immediately by adding a good multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplement to your daily diet.

– Antioxidants: Add an antioxidant supplement (A, E, C, selenium, or equivalent).

– Oils: Replace your salad dressing with olive oil, and change your cooking oil to coconut oil or avocado oil. (Polyunsaturated fats like canola and soybean oil commonly used today; oxidize at a lower temperature – this means that they throw off free radicals at body temperature, which cause cellular damage and accelerate aging.)

– Vegetables: If you aren’t already, add at least one serving of dark leafy green vegetables, one serving of yellow vegetables, and one dark red vegetable per day. This will add essential enzymes, phytonutrients, minerals, and fiber. The easiest way to do this is to insist on one large salad of romaine and RIPE tomato with carrots to nibble on the side – and don’t forget to use olive oil for dressing. A squeeze of lemon goes nicely with this, and the combination of olive oil and lemon helps balance liver enzyme function as well.

– Eggs: Protein is vital to cellular regeneration. Although carbohydrates can give you energy, and in the long run, your body can use vegetable proteins to synthesize human proteins, only eggs contain every single amino acid necessary to rebuild human cells. Unless you are allergic, add one or two eggs to your menu every day. You can hard boil and chop it over that salad.

– Yogurt: In addition to the protein it adds, yogurt also adds calcium and important digestive enzymes to your diet. Add at least one serving of live-culture yogurt daily. It’s cheap, it tastes good, and it’s good for you – what more can you ask for? Whole fat yogurt is preferable since the low-fat kind is usually filled with starch for texture and adds empty calories. Avoid the type with lots of added sugar if you can since sugar has little to no real long-term nutritional value.

Hydration:

Your body requires adequate water to move nutrients and enzymes throughout the body. But how much water does your body need? The rule of thumb is to drink at least half your weight in ounces. So, if you weigh 100 pounds, you should drink at least 50 ounces of water per day. But, don’t stop there; the more, the better!

Sleep:

Although it’s hard to find, adequate sleep is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your appearance. This is because your body spends most of your sleeping hours regenerating itself, rebuilding cells, balancing hormone levels and brain chemicals. So adequate sleep will not only help you look good, it will help you feel good as well.

Neurochemicals that control mood and pain levels are produced during sleep, which is why so many chronic pain patients are found to have an underlying sleep disorder. So, even if you are not the raving beauty you wished you were, proper mood can lead to proper perspective, and at least it won’t bother you as much. There is, of course, no such thing as perfect, and there’s nothing like a good night’s sleep to put those nagging doubts and insecurities into perspective.

– Adequate Sleep:

Make a habit of getting enough sleep.

Most experts claim seven to nine hours per day is the required amount. However, some experts say that setting the total amount of sleep to coincide with the natural 90 minutes per sleep cycle is best. This would mean either 7.5 or 9 hours of sleep per night.

Five cycles would mean 7.5 hours; six cycles would be nine hours of sleep. Try experimenting with setting your clock for either 7.5 OR 9 hours, depending on your schedule, so that you can complete each sleep cycle naturally. On the other hand, if you find that 8 hours or 8.5 hours is what makes you feel best, by all means, do what works for you.

– Napping: Make a habit of grabbing naps. Humans were meant to take naps. That’s why those of us who are permitted to live according to our normal biological cycle (babies, small children, and the elderly) take naps. Humans are designed to nap during the afternoon. Current studies show hormones’ natural rise and fall that indicate a programmed “nap” time in the afternoon. That famous mid-afternoon slump isn’t just lack of sleep at night, a heavy lunch, or stress – it’s your instincts kicking in and telling you to take some downtime. Take a nap during the weekend if you can. Instead of sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday, get up at your usual time and then take a nap in the early afternoon. It doesn’t need to be a long nap, a simple twenty-minute “cat nap.”

You will do just fine! Your body will thank you. And hey, if all you end up doing is resting in a cool room with your eyes closed and clearing your mind, that’ll help too.

A New Conversation About Dreams – The Power of Intention

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 20 Second

It’s time to change the way we think and speak about our dreams. Transforming a conversation, just like manifesting a vision, begins by setting an intention. Your intentions will assist you in taking greater control of your life.

A working definition for intention is: “to have in mind a purpose or plan, to direct the mind, to aim”. Lacking intent, we sometimes stray without meaning or direction. But with it, all the universe forces can align to make even the most impossible possible. I intend to transform the conversation around dreams from fear and doubt to hope and possibility, followed by action and results. Some might say this is not the right time to dream. The media and masses say, “It’s time to be realistic.” Consider this. Without our dreams, all we have is our present reality. Reality is not a bad thing. We have to know where we are to design the appropriate strategy for getting to where we want to be. The challenge is our attitude around “reality” and being “realistic” and what being realistic has cost us. Often that’s our passion and joy, our hopes and dreams.

Given the unknowns and sometimes craziness of life, there’s never been a more important time to dream, and setting your intention is the first step. When should you select a choice? You could set a purpose every day. Your preference could be to work less and make more or find a new career that you are passionate about. It could be to get healthy and physically fit, or to spend more quality time with loved ones or alone. It can be specific and about something in particular or more like a quality, such as to be more relaxed or involved with life. At seventy, Bessie set an intention to become a world-famous photographer. Although many thought she was too old, she didn’t. She entered a photo contest where she won the first prize of $10,000. Her prize-winning photo toured around the world with a Kodak exhibit. She told me, “We’re never too old to make a dream come true.”

People set intentions on all kinds of dreams; to get married or have children, to get a job or make a career change, to write a book, lose weight, or move to a foreign country. When you set an intention and then act on it to demonstrate your commitment, amazing things occur. Purpose can also give us fortitude for dealing with tough times.  Purpose can be used for community or social issues, global events, or (literally) in your backyard.

In conclusion:

  • Get clear about something you want and write it down.
  • Share your intention with someone in a way that will supportively hold you accountable for taking action.

CAN VS CAN’T

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 6 Second

It is my personal opinion that two words are the driving force behind your personally achieving your outcome and your WHY in Life. These two words are the most powerful words that you can and will ever speak to yourself about any situation – “CAN” and “CAN’T” As I’ve said many times, “CAN” is a word of power; whereas, “CAN’T” is a word of retreat.

You have the power to decide if you wish to ACHIEVE or RETREAT because when you speak victory words such as “I CAN,” you will attain whatever you set out to do regardless of what others are saying to you. Many famous entrepreneurs in the world, such as Ray Kroc, Fred Astaire, Walt Disney, and Dick Clark. I can attest that if you spoke with each of them individually, they would tell you that at the beginning of their journey, most people told them that you CAN’T do that! Fortunately, they disregarded these statements and listened to their inner voice, who said, “Oh yes, I CAN!”

The key in life is to realize the most important person who speaks to you every day is you on the inside! You need to review your WHY in Life and see if you are on track toward achieving your WHY, or are you on a detour because someone told you, “You CAN’T do that, so stop dreaming and just forget about it!” As a personal mindset builder, you need to speak to your inner person and say to yourself, “Today, I will take another productive stride!”

Each morning, I visualize myself winning. My personal outcome for each day is to build a community of people with whom we can inspire and motivate us to make the world a better place to live. I have to admit if it was not for my inner person saying, “John, you CAN do it! YOU CAN do it!” I may not be in the position of success that I am today. Some days it is still difficult, but guess what — we ARE doing it!

I am personally very proud and appreciative of the people who have stepped up to the plate and made individual contributions of talent and time and, when combined, have made an empowered team at the Di Lemme Development Group – a team that keeps on building each day!

In summary, you need to ask yourself a sincere question, “Am I listening to my victory words from the inside, or am I letting the outer defeat (loser) words control my outcome in life?”.

Best Leadership Advice: Business Success Secrets From 7 Top Leaders

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 37 Second

Fortune magazine once published an article entitled “The Best Advice I Ever Got.” It was a great article that offered wit and wisdom about achieving business success. I liked it so much that it motivated me to produce my newest book, Leadership: Best Advice I Ever Got, which describes the best leadership advice 136 successful CEOs, coaches, consultants, professors, managers, executives, presidents, politicians, and religious leaders received that most helped them become effective and successful leaders.

Here are 7 secrets to leadership success:

1. Leadership is about making things happen

If you want to make something happen with your life, in school, your profession, or your community, do it. Perceived obstacles crumble against persistent desire. John Baldoni, Author, Leadership Communication Consultant, and Founder of Baldoni Consulting LLC, shared this advice that had come from his father, a physician. He taught him the value of persistence. At the same time, his mother taught him compassion for others. Therefore, persistence for your cause should not be gained at the expense of others. Another bit of leadership wisdom!

2. Listen and understand the issue, then lead

Time and time again, we have all been told, “God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason”…or as Stephen Covey said…”Seek to understand, rather than be understood.” As a leader, listening first to the issue, then trying to coach, has been the most valuable advice that Cordia Harrington, President, and CEO of Tennessee Bun Company has been given.

3. Answer the three questions everyone within your organization wants answers to

What the people of an organization want from their leader are answers to the following: Where are we going? How are we going to get there? What is my role? Kevin Nolan, President & Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Health Systems, Inc., believes the more clarity that can be added to each of the three questions, the better the result.

4. Master the goals that will allow you to work anywhere in today’s dynamic business world

Debbe Kennedy, President, CEO, and Founder of Global Dialogue Center and Leadership Solutions Companies, and author of Action Dialogues and Breakthrough, once shared this piece of advice instrumental in shaping her direction, future, and achievements.

She was a young manager at IBM just promoted to her first staff assignment in a regional marketing office. For reasons she can’t explain, one of her colleagues named Bookie called her into his office while visiting his location. He then began to offer unsolicited advice, but advice that now stays fresh in her mind. He mentioned that jobs, missions, titles, and organizations would come and go as a business is dynamic– meaning it is always changing. He advised her not to focus her goals toward any of these but instead learn to master the skills that will allow her to work anywhere.

He was talking about four skills:

The ability to develop an idea
Effectively plan for its implementation
Execute second-to-none
Achieve superior results time after time

With this in mind, Kennedy advises readers to seek jobs and opportunities with this in mind. Forget what others do. Work to be known for delivering excellence. It speaks for itself, and it opens doors.

5. Be curious

Curiosity is a prerequisite to continuous improvement and even excellence. The person who gave Mary Jean Thornton, Former Executive Vice President & CIO, The Travelers, urged her to study people, processes, and structures. He inspired her to be intellectually curious. He often reminded Thornton that making progress, in part, was based upon thinking. She has learned to apply this notion of intellectual curiosity by thinking about her organization’s future, understanding the present, and knowing and challenging herself to creatively move the people and the organization closer to its vision.

6. Listen to both sides of the argument

The most valuable advice Brian P. Lees, Massachusetts State Senator and Senate Minority Leader, ever received came from his mentor, United States Senator Edward W. Brooke III. He told him to listen to all different kinds of people and ideas. Listening only to those who share your background and opinions can be imprudent. It is important to respect your neighbors’ rights to their own views. Listening to and talking with a variety of people, from professors to police officers, from senior citizens to schoolchildren, is essential not only to be a good leader in business but also to be a valuable member of your community.

7. Prepare, prepare, prepare

If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail. If one has truly prepared and something goes wrong, the strength of the rest of what you’ve prepared for usually makes this something easier to handle without crisis and panic. One of the best pieces of advice Dave Hixson, Men’s Varsity Basketball Coach at Amherst College, has ever received and continues to use and pass on is this anonymous quote, “Preparation is the science of winning.”

Along with this are two expressions from Rick Pitino’s book Success is a Choice, which speaks to preparation. Hixson asks his teams every year: “Do you deserve to win?” and “Have you done the work?” This speaks to the importance of preparation toward achieving your final goal. If you haven’t done the work (preparation), the answer to the second question is an easy “no!”

Great advice comes from many sources: parents, other relatives, consultants, bosses, co-workers, mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends. The important point to remember is to stay open, listen to everyone, and develop your own leadership style.

Six Tips For Beginners In The MLM Industry

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 24 Second

MLM has a bad reputation with many people. This is unfortunate because the Direct Selling Industry is a billion-dollar enterprise that if done correctly and with integrity, can provide an incredible income. Choose wisely. There are six significant elements you should be looking for in a network marketing company:

– Stability: How old is the company?

– Outstanding products or services: will people keep buying?

– Pay plan—it should be smooth and reasonable, and generous. This is vital as the pay plan depicts precisely how you’ll get paid–or not get paid.

– The honesty of the company and the management: As much as possible, examine the experience of the CEO and reputation in the network marketing industry.

– Momentum and timing: Search out the company’s location, current affairs, and if it is rising.

– Support, training, and business systems: A company with brilliant management, products, and services, with a payment plan that’s exclusively fair and very liberal, will be in no use without good support and training.

Practice what they teach: For success, beginners need to be eager to pay attention and learn from counselors. But whatever the counselor did to succeed, don’t try to copy them blindly, but you have to be keen to gossip and be taught and pursue those systems.

The higher-ups- The general term is the “upline,” meaning the people higher than you. They should be as committed to your success as they are to their own. Newcomers should be capable of relating to the upline and be able to call them at any time to say, “I need some help.”

Take up the lead with your downline- There’s a term in the network marketing industry called “orphans”— newcomers joining the MLM industry and have nothing to do as their mentors are busy reruiting. Mentors should be ready to bear at least 30 days of training a newcomer into the industry– helping them and holding their hand until they feel positive to be able to go off on their own. Great leaders continue to nurture their team for as long as they are active.

We live in a virtual world now and the strongest companies have made the pivot. Zoom has replaced Home Parties and presentations. No more cleaning up, babysitters or snacks.

Taking care of business: As this is a business, and just like if you were running a trade or a shop, you should maintain all the official formalities. In addition, you have all the same write-offs tax-consultants you have with running a [full-time] business, so it’s imperative to research getting engaged before you start earning cash from it.

It’s essential to build a support team around you and seek suggestions from lawyers proficient with the MLM industry or Direct-Selling Company.

Applying the Law of Attraction to Your Business!!

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 22 Second

It is said that the law of attraction has its roots in Buddhism. Others say that it’s about Karma. But it need not be a religion – it can simply be a way of thinking and, ultimately, living.

Basically, the law of attraction says that what you visualize in your mind and emotions can become a reality. By believing that you are present in your thoughts and feelings, you are said to “attract” those things you desire by thinking of them and having strong feelings about them. When you tap into the law of attraction, you visualize yourself in the place you want to be.

According to the law, you will attract the necessary things for those wants to manifest in real life. You are said to attract those things on which you focus your energy.

How can this law be applied to your business? Here are some ideas.

What Do You Want?

Determining just what it is that you want the basic beginning of applying the law of attraction. After all, you can’t visualize your dreams if you don’t know what they are. So, it’s a good idea to begin by being quite specific about what you want from your business.

Visualize

Visualization is said to create your personal “vibration.” The law of attraction is said to respond to this vibration. Every day, try envisioning yourself as successful in your business. Try to make the visualizations specific – you receive a phone call, join with a powerful business partner, and find 100 new clients. Spend time each day with these thoughts in the forefront of your mind.

Imagine that you have already achieved what you want. This is said to heighten your awareness of the opportunities you will begin to attract.

Believe It’s Yours

The law of attraction says you need to accept those things that come your way due to your attraction. Like any belief, you need to overcome doubt and trust that you will, in fact, attract what you want. For instance, if you want to sell more of your product or service, believe it can happen. As you visualize, move into trust. Accept that these business goals and achievements are yours.

Another element of believing it’s yours is cultivating a healthy sense that you deserve these accomplishments and dreams. If you continue to think you’re not worthy, it could affect the vibration you send out and attract negative attention to your business.

Be Careful of Negative Thoughts

The law of attraction means you attract those things you focus on – so if you attract negative things, it is due to a negative vibration you sent out. The law of attraction applies to bad things as well, in other words. Therefore, it is said that you should make sure to keep it positive so that you do not attract business failure or frustration.

Achieve Your Goals Through The Magic Of Consistency

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 45 Second

Consistency seems to be a boring idea at first sight. It lacks glamour and excitement. But, when you look more closely, consistency is anything but boring. It contains the secret of achievement and success. It is the key to an almost magical power that can transform lives.

Consistency means repeating the same behaviors regularly and without exceptions. Consistent behavior is the opposite of erratic behavior. Skipping workouts is an example of erratic behavior. Performing all or most of your workouts is an example of consistency.

Consistency creates powerful habits; lack of consistency and exceptions mean that you have to start building the habits all over again.

Consistency allows the seeds to grow and the fruit to arrive. Regular, patient, consistent action is necessary to achieve good results. Even winning the lottery requires buying a ticket and entering the numbers.

A woman who won the US $162 million lotteries says that she played the same numbers consistently for two years. She didn’t play it once or twice and gave up as so many people do.

She steadfastly believed that her dream of winning the lottery would be realized. Consistency, then, may occasionally work even in the notoriously risky world of gambling.

Recently, I read an outstanding article by T.J. Walker, the public speaking and communication expert. He commented on how often communication breaks down on the internet because of a lack of consistency.

Ezines, blogs, and podcasts often only last for one or two issues, and then they disappear. Either their creators ran out of material or foolishly expected success after one or two efforts and gave up when the results of their efforts were disappointing.

Most marketing gurus insist that sales only come after about seven email messages have been sent to a list of potential customers.

Many would-be entrepreneurs lack the patience and consistency to send out even seven messages to their lists. As a result, they are unlikely to succeed in winning the trust of their customers.

Nearly any goal worth achieving demands regular and consistent efforts. If you want to achieve a black belt in a martial art, you need to show up to one training session after another, whether you feel like it or not.

From many years of experience, I know that students who show up regularly for training almost always achieve their goal of becoming a black belt.

However, I have had some very talented students who lacked patience and only showed up sporadically. When their progress up the ladder of success seemed too slow to them, they gave up and disappeared.

When I examine my martial arts students at grading sessions, I often congratulate them for just being there. I tell them that they are already halfway through the grading because they have shown up, and in the famous words of Woody Allen: “80% of success in life is just showing up.”

By showing up, my students have shown that they have guts and are willing to accept that they might look foolish if they forget their syllabus or perform it badly. Not everyone can face this possibility, and I even had one student give up the martial art because the grading seemed too worrying.

One person who has never failed to show up in the UK and about a third of the rest of the world is Queen Elizabeth II. For over half a century, she has shown up at one formal and informal occasion after another in good and bad times. She has traveled thousands of miles worldwide to achieve her goal of being a servant of her country and the commonwealth.

Today was her 80th birthday, and most of the country and even the media showed their appreciation for her consistent adherence to duty. One paper actually called her “Elizabeth the Great.”

Greatness only comes when efforts are consistent. Champion teams win championships not because they win every match but because they consistently play well and with determination and, as a result, win most of their matches.

An individual loses weight because they stick consistently to their diet and their exercise regime. A bodybuilder adds muscle weight because he consistently attends the gym, whether he feels like it or not. The champions do not give up when they feel tired or bored or when results seem painfully slow.

Daily efforts create habits, and habits make it easier to make those daily efforts, but it still takes hard work and the determination to follow through every single day no matter what.

To achieve your goals repeat your efforts every single day. Turn up in the gym or wherever you need to. Don’t be like my stepbrother, who was once told: “You won’t turn up for your own funeral!”

Occasionally you make have to make an exception and miss out on the desired behavior. One way to avoid exceptions is to perform the behavior you have planned as early as possible on the day before the rest of the family, and the cat start demanding your attention!

Another way to avoid exceptions is to list your most important daily behaviors in order of importance. Then, stick it on your wall and read it as soon as you get up. This way, your consistency will not falter because of poor memory.

Repeat the desired or planned behavior daily and with a few exceptions as possible, and you will make gradual but certain progress and eventually achieve your loftiest goals and dreams.

Even if you don’t achieve all your goals and dreams, you will have at least become a great character and a person of value because you did what you planned to do daily. That, at least, is a goal worth achieving.
